The 4 Pillars
Our 4 Pillars
The High Point Chamber of Commerce exists to connect and progress the business community of High Point, NC and the Triad region. To do so, we focus on 4 pillar initiatives: Business Services, Workforce Development, Government Advocacy and Education. Everything we do supports one or more of the pillars, which ultimately moves our city and region forward. Take a moment to learn about each pillar:
1. Business Services
What it is: The High Point Chamber of Commerce is here to serve you. We do this through hosting multiple networking events throughout the year, opening our facility for your use during and after business hours and keeping in constant communication with you about what’s happening in our Chamber, our city and our government.
Why it matters: Business Services is the primary way our Chamber connects your business with opportunity. There is power in networking and power in numbers; that’s why we host endless networking events for our members.
How we’re helping: Your business can get the most out of our Business Services pillar by attending our recurring and annual events. Our recurring events focus on networking with local professionals. Those events are Conversation Café, BizLinks!, and quarterly Business After Hours. Great annual events to attend for networking are the Golf Tournament and the Women’s Business Luncheon.
2. Workforce Development
What it is: Workforce Development is taking action to connect potential employees with local employers. Any local economy desires more jobs – or a greater workforce – and High Point, NC is no different.
Why it matters: A larger workforce means a better economy, which makes our city a more desirable location to visitors as well as to potential businesses and residents.
How we’re helping: High Point, NC is a unique city in that it has many jobs available in various industries such as manufacturing, health care, and logistics, but little ability to fill these jobs. The High Point Chamber of Commerce is seeking to bridge that gap through efforts with local high schools in addition to hosting career & job fairs, and training sessions.
3. Government Advocacy
What it is: As a member, the High Point Chamber of Commerce represents you and your business at city, county, regional, state and national levels of government. This is our honor and privilege.
Why it matters: Our Chamber represents over 800 community businesses, which means our one, united voice will be heard loud and clear on issues that will impact your business no matter from which level of government it originates.
How we’re helping: The High Point Chamber of Commerce works diligently to create open, clear and consistent communications with government officials from all levels. The High Point Chamber of Commerce works closely with the High Point City Mayor and City Manager to ensure the best results for your business.
What it is: The High Point Chamber of Commerce believes education at all levels – K-12, vocational training, four-year degrees, and advanced degrees – are the key to a successful future for our city.
Why it matters: The better our education system is, the better High Point, NC students can become.
How we’re helping: The High Point Chamber of Commerce is making strides in its Education Pillar by participating in initiatives such as Say Yes to Education and Teach for America as well as by volunteering in schools, hosting forums and summits, and administering a Principal’s Council.
